I just got back from playing my first events in Slovakia. I played in an one day Slovak Pro Golf Tour event and a three day Czech PGA Tour event. The Slovak Pro Golf Tour is basically a pro-am. It was only my second time to play in one of those and it was completely different experience than last time I played in one on the Adams Golf Tour. I expected to be playing with amateurs that play worse but I was put into a group with people that have been playing golf only for few months. It took us more than six hours to play the round and my patience ran out after first nine holes and that’s also where my, to that point under par, score suffered. At the end I finished two over par and tied for fourth.
The second event the same week was the only Czech PGA Tour event that is hosted at a course in Slovakia. I have played few amateur tournaments on the course before so I was probably more familiar with it than most players. The tournament was played in tough conditions with cold temperatures and lot of rain. I opened the tournament with 71 and followed it by a 73 which was great in those tough circumstances. I played great from tee to green both days but I could not make many putts for birdies. In the final round I went tied for the lead with couple other players but my ball striking was little off. I was not able to make many birdies that would offset some mistakes that I made and I ended up with a 75 and a fourth place. At the end it was a good event for me. I will try to learn from my experience and use it in next tournaments. Hopefully I can come up with a win soon. I will be playing in another Czech PGA Tour event very next week.
